Government of India released Nu. 334.10 Crore for Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Power project
Charge d' Affaires, Embassy of India, Mrs. Esha Srivastava handed over a cheque for an amount of Nu. 334.10 Crorefor Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Power project to Lyonpo Lekey Dorji, Minister for Economic Affairs, Royal Government of Bhutan on 10.03.2017.
Construction of Mangdechhu HEP was commenced in August 2010 at a project cost of Nu. 2896.30 Crore (at March 2008 Price Level). On 23 March 2016, the Union Cabinet approved the Revised Cost Estimate (RCE) of the project of Rs. 4020.6303 crore (at March 2014 Price Level).
As on date, GoI has released Rs. 3966.7 crores to the Project Authority. Physical progress of the project, as of December 2016, is 88%. The project is expected to be completed by mid 2018.
