The 2nd Project Monitoring Committee (PMC) Meeting on GoI’s Project Tied Assistance to Bhutan in the 11thFive Year Plan (FYP) was held in Thimphu on Wednesday, 26th of April, 2017. The meeting reviewed the overall progress of the PTA projects and reiterated the need for the timely completion of the projects. RGoB delegation expressed satisfaction at the timely and continuous fund releases from GOI under the XI Five Year Plan.

Under Project-tied Assistance for the 11th FYP, 83 projects were identified under various Ministries and agencies with a committed allocation of Nu. 28 billion. Out of Nu. 28 billion, Nu. 16.820 billion has been disbursed till date which is about 60.07% of the total allocation for PTA. As on date 13 projects have been completed and 57 more projects are expected to be completed by June 2018.

The RGoB delegation was led by the Secretary of the GNH Commission and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the GNH Commission and concerned sectors. The GoI delegation was led by Mrs. Esha Srivastava, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Thimphu and included other GoI officials from the Ministry of External Affairs, as well as senior officials from the Embassy of India, Thimphu.

The GoI delegation visited the PTA projects including the Expansion of Paro Airport, Construction of Royal Institute of Law in Paro and Mother and Child Hospital in Thimphu. With their overall commitment of Nu. 45 billion to the 11th FYP, the GoI continues to be Bhutan’s largest development partner to date.
