Aid-to Bhutan ICCR Scholarship

            The Aid-to Bhutan ICCR Scholarship scheme has been implemented in Bhutan from the academic session 2012-13. Under this Scheme twenty (20) scholarships are offered each year at Undergraduate level to Bhutanese students who have passed XIIth Grade. Till date 76 students from Bhutan are studying in India under this scheme. All the Bhutanese students have opted for Engineering Courses in various disciplines such as Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering.

             The Aid-to Bhutan ICCR Scholarship is an all expenses paid scholarship including tuition fees, living expenses/stipend, travel cost and hostel accommodation. The Scholarship is awarded by Government of India based on the merit ranking of the student in Class XII examinations. Department of Adult and Higher Education(DAHE) is the nodal Bhutanese agency for this scholarship.

         Students selected under this scheme are placed in the premier engineering colleges in India. In the first year of its inception, 19 Bhutanese students were placed in NIT, Warangal in Andhra Pradesh. In the academic year 2013-14, 20 Bhutanese students were placed in various prestigious Engineering Colleges in Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat. In the Academic year 2014-15, 18 students availed of the scholarship and were placed in various prestigious Engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat. In the Academic year 2015-16, 19 students availed of this scholarship and all of them were placed in reputed NITs. Ten students were placed in NIT Rourkela, Odisha and nine in NIT Kurukshetra, Haryana. They are currently pursuing Bachelor’s programmes in civil, electrical and mechanical engineering.

          In the academic year 2016-17, all the twenty (20) top ranking Bhutanese students, who have been selected for the ICCR Scholarship have again been placed in reputed Institutes in India. Ten students have been placed in NIT, Kurukshetra, two in NIT, Warangal, five in Gujarat Technological University and three students in Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal.
